Three

Perfect Bull kicks off his sophomore campaign in the ninth race at Tampa Bay Downs on January 18th, post time 3:07 pm Central. The colt will break from post two in a field of eight runners contesting the 8.5 furlong turf event. The morning line second choice at odds of 2-1, Perfect Bull will be entering the race with an equipment change as he will be wearing blinkers. With two victories and four seconds from eight outings, we don't want to do anything drastic, just add a little more to the curriculum.

As you may have noticed from previous efforts, the colt has not been settling into his races as quickly as we would like. The colt's been throwing his head around and acting like he wants to grab the bit and run off although we've been trying to get him to rate behind the pace and save his energy for the stretch. The use of quarter cup blinkers in this instance is intended to focus the colt's attention just enough to allow the jockey to get the colt into a relaxed stride. The colt's been practicing with them during his morning gallops and it seems to have somewhat of a positive effect. Yet game time is quite a different experience. So, if the colt travels straight out of the gate with his head collected on Sunday, perhaps the equipment change will have made the difference. Then again it could have the exact opposite effect and make the colt that much more determined to run them into the ground from the get go. We'll know a few strides from the gate how Perfect Bull intends to annex victory number three.
